A Happy Home

It happened a few years ago. When I was around 10, I had chicken pox. I was supposed to rest for a week before I was cured completely. Even though care was taken by my parents as not to let anyone too close to me for the fear that it might spread, their efforts were not successful. Soon after me, my sister was infected as well. It was one long month at home, what with me and my sister falling sick.

The days that followed were not pleasant either. Though we were fine, we still had the weakness caused by the sickness. Time and again, one of us would fall sick and our mom used to rush with us to the doctor. Tablets were making constant appearances. Fed up with all this, our parents decided to consult a specialist. There must be some solution! They couldn't be happy when their children were suffering like this.

Of course, me and my sister were scared when our parents told us we were going to visit another doctor. Though at that time, the word specialist didn't mean anything to me, it scared my elder sister. So I thought it was a bad thing after all! We imagined injections being given to us and the thought itself made us sick all over again. But no amount of our 'Please' was going to change our parents' mind. So, without having any other option, we went along to the hospital.

Once there, we started shivering, expecting the worst. My fear was drawn from my sister, who looked terrified. When the doctor called us in, our parents had to drag two crying children inside! We were imagining different scenarios about how the doctor would treat us. But our fears were all vain. The doctor, an old man, was very friendly with us and after a little while, we opened up to him. He examined me (I was running on fever) and prescribed few medicines. I was surprised and asked "No Injection?". He smiled, shaking his head in negative. I was happy with relief.

After he wrote down medicines, he also suggested our parents that we be given Dabur Chyawanprash regularly. He said not only it is good and makes us strong, but also builds up to three times immunity. It was due to weak immunity that we were falling sick often and once that was solved, we would be fine. That was the first time, we were given Dabur chyawanprash and after few days, our health considerably improved. We weren't falling sick often and there wasn't that gloomy environment in the house either. Needless to say, we take a spoon of Dabur Chyawanprash daily and now, it has become a habit, a good one at that.

PS: This post is written for Dabur Chyawanprash and IndiBlogger.

Until the next post,
Sudhi :)
